1. Introduction

Welcome to Rivo. These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your access to and use of Rivo's peer-to-peer car sharing platform, including our website, mobile applications, and related services (collectively, the "Platform"). By accessing or using the Platform, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

Rivo operates as a marketplace connecting car owners ("Hosts") with individuals seeking to rent vehicles ("Renters"). Rivo is not a car rental company and does not own the vehicles listed on the Platform.

2. Eligibility

To use the Platform, you must:

  • Be at least 18 years old
  • Hold a valid driver's license (for Renters)
  • Have held your license for at least 1 year
  • Complete identity verification
  • Agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy

Some vehicles may have additional age requirements (e.g., minimum age 21 or 25). Renters under 25 may be subject to a young driver fee.

3. Booking and Payments

3.1 Booking Process

Renters may request to book a vehicle through the Platform. Hosts have 24 hours to accept or decline booking requests unless the vehicle is listed as "Instant Book." A booking is confirmed only when the Host accepts and payment is processed.

3.2 Pricing

Hosts set their own daily rental rates. The total booking price includes:

  • Daily rental rate × number of days
  • Service fee (15% of the rental amount)
  • Young driver fee (if applicable, €25/day for drivers under 25)
  • Any additional fees specified by the Host

3.3 Security Deposit

A security deposit hold will be placed on your payment method at the start of each trip. The deposit amount varies based on the vehicle's value and your selected excess tier. This hold is released within 5-7 business days after the trip ends, provided no claims are filed.

4. Insurance Coverage

All trips booked through Rivo include comprehensive insurance coverage provided by our insurance partners. Coverage includes:

  • Third-party liability insurance (minimum €50 million coverage)
  • Collision damage coverage for the vehicle
  • Theft protection
  • 24/7 roadside assistance

Excess Tiers: Renters can choose their excess (deductible) level:

  • Tier A (Standard): €1,500 excess - Included in base price
  • Tier B (Reduced): €500 excess - Additional €10/day
  • Tier C (Minimal): €150 excess - Additional €20/day

5. Host Responsibilities

As a Host, you agree to:

  • Provide accurate information about your vehicle
  • Ensure the vehicle is roadworthy and legally compliant
  • Maintain valid vehicle registration and inspection (MOT/Besiktning)
  • Deliver the vehicle clean and with the agreed fuel level
  • Respond to booking requests within 24 hours
  • Report any damage claims within 24 hours of trip end

6. Renter Responsibilities

As a Renter, you agree to:

  • Use the vehicle only for lawful purposes
  • Not exceed any mileage limits specified in the booking
  • Return the vehicle on time, clean, and with the same fuel level
  • Not allow unauthorized drivers to operate the vehicle
  • Complete check-in and check-out documentation with photos
  • Report any accidents or damage immediately
  • Pay for any traffic violations incurred during your trip

7. Prohibited Uses

Vehicles may not be used for:

  • Racing, competitions, or driver training
  • Towing or pushing other vehicles
  • Transporting hazardous materials
  • Commercial purposes (unless expressly permitted)
  • Cross-border travel (unless approved by Host)
  • Any illegal activity

8. Cancellations

8.1 Renter Cancellations

  • More than 48 hours before trip: Full refund
  • 24-48 hours before trip: 50% refund
  • Less than 24 hours: No refund

8.2 Host Cancellations

Hosts who cancel confirmed bookings may face penalties including reduced visibility and potential account suspension for repeated cancellations.

9. Damage and Claims

Both Hosts and Renters must document the vehicle condition at check-in and check-out using the Platform's evidence capture feature. Claims for damage must be submitted within 24 hours of trip end.

Rivo will review claims and may charge the Renter's deposit for verified damage up to the applicable excess amount. Disputes may be escalated to our support team for resolution.

10. Limitation of Liability

Rivo acts as an intermediary platform and is not liable for the actions of Hosts or Renters. Our liability is limited to the fees paid to Rivo for the relevant transaction. We are not responsible for vehicle defects, accidents caused by user negligence, or disputes between users.

11. Changes to Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or through the Platform. Continued use of the Platform after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.
